Sogin Group at RemTech Expo 2020

Sogin Group participated in RemTech Expo 2020, the annual event specialized in the remediation of contaminated sites, protection, and redevelopment of the territory. For the first time this year, the event from 21 to 25 September was entirely digital.

The Company took part in the panel "Remediation in radiation protection: open issues and challenges for the future", chaired by Francesco Mancini (Sogin - Airp), together with ARPA Piemonte, ARPAT Toscana, Eni Rewind and the Department of Structural, Construction and Geotechnical Engineering of the Polytechnic of Turin.

The decommissioning of nuclear plants represents one of the main challenges in the field of radiological remediation. During the Workshop, Gabriele Malé spoke for Sogin and presented the "Waste A&B" decommissioning project at the OPEC site of Casaccia, illustrating the methods of removal and decontamination of the two tanks that, during the operation of the plant, collected liquid radioactive waste. This work was complex both from a design and an operational point of view because of the contamination present, which also required remote intervention.
