Sogin and Nucleco at Ecomondo 2021

The Sogin Group also confirms its participation in Ecomondo, the reference event in Europe for the ecological transition and the new models of a circular and regenerative economy, which takes place from 26 to 29 October at the Fiera di Rimini.

As part of the event, a conference was held today, live streaming, organized by Sogin and Nucleco "From nuclear to conventional: best practices for the remediation of contaminated sites," an opportunity to deepen the aspects related to the transfer of know-how from nuclear to conventional and present projects of institutions and operators in the sector.

The works, introduced by the President of Sogin, Luigi Perri, opened with the institutional greetings of the Extraordinary Commissioner for the remediation of illegal landfills, Giuseppe Vadalà, with whom Sogin has signed a cooperation protocol for the remediation of illegal landfills, and the concluding remarks were made by the CEO of Sogin, Emanuele Fontani.

The following spoke on behalf of the Group: Luca Cittadini, CEO Nucleco, who talked about the role of the Company in nuclear and conventional remediation and Francesco Troiani, Director of Business Development and Technological Innovation at Sogin, with a focus on the transfer of nuclear know-how to the conventional sector.

The other speakers were: Aldo Papotto, Head of the Financial Resources Management, Planning, Expenditure and Control Division, and Nino Tarantino, Head of the Operational Coordination and Implementation Division, of the Extraordinary Commissioner for Land Reclamation, who described the bioremediation interventions carried out at commissioned sites; Francesco Misuraca, Director of Engineering and Environmental Remediation of Eni Rewind, who illustrated "Nuraghe", a sustainable remediation project at km 0, and Gianni Scherl, Senior Designer Innovation Department of Fincantieri​, who presented the Deep Sea Mining agreement for sustainable use of the seabed.

Until Friday, 29 October, the Group is present in the exhibition area with a stand (no. 55 - Hall C3) to show the Company's activities in Italy and abroad in decommissioning, radioactive waste management, and decontamination and remediation.

Among the various technologies we use, visitors can see live the containment tent, called PEDI, used to dismantle the Glove Boxes contaminated with plutonium and experience the virtual navigation inside a nuclear plant, reconstructed thanks to our Survey 3D technology.
